Ebimotors, unfortunate withdrawal at Silverstone in the Michelin Le Mans Cup
Ebimotors' trip to England in the 2025 Michelin Le Mans Cup ended with a bitter withdrawal. The fifth round of the season saw the number 95 Porsche 911 (992) GT3 R looking for valuable points after a less than profitable outing in Belgium.
On the iconic Silverstone track, both drivers, who were experiencing the circuit for the first time, familiarized themselves with it during Thursday's practice, despite multiple red flags interrupting normal proceedings. Free practice sessions were also useful for improving lap times despite the British weather, which did not spare us a few drops of rain. Qualifying ended with an encouraging overall fourth place in the GT3 class, which then turned into second place due to penalties imposed on other teams for irregularities.
The colourful Porsche 911 (992) GT3 R number 95 stood out in the front row, in second place behind only the Iron Dames' sister car on the starting grid. The race on Saturday 13th, lasting 110 minutes (not two hours as usual), started at 4:45 p.m. (local time). Fabrizio Broggi got off to a good start, but then suffered a puncture (as at Spa), presumably due to debris lost during a brawl between the various LMP3 cars. He managed the early stages of the race well. We returned to the race after the mandatory pit stop to replace the right rear tire. After almost 40 minutes of racing, aiming to make up for lost time, contact with a prototype proved fatal and put us out of the race.
The damage was such that he had to withdraw immediately. Fortunately, the particularly heavy impact did not cause any physical consequences for our gentleman driver.
The next and final round of the championship will take place on October 18th in Portimão, where we will be present for a ‘personal’ redemption without any other ambitions at this point.
